SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A 50-year-old woman from Dearborn has been charged after authorities claim she deliberately hit a landscaper with her vehicle and pinned him against a home in Southfield four days ago.
Tiffany Hart faces up to life in prison for assault with intent to murder, officials said via The Detroit News. Hart was arraigned on Thursday where a judge set her bond at $900,000.
Southfield police said the trouble appeared to have started after Hart grew upset with an employee with a lawn service company.
Officers were initially called out to the scene of an accident that involved a pedestrian on Tuesday around 10:45 a.m. in the area of Hilton and Fairfax near 10 Mile and Greenfield.
Upon arrival, officers found Hart had allegedly struck and pinned a 32-year-old Warren man and landscaping employee up against the brick wall of a home with her vehicle.
After a preliminary investigation, police determined the man was working for Jasman Landscaping. Police believe the victim along with other employees had refused to give Hart a quote for lawn care when she became upset, but the motive remains unclear.
Police allege Hart charged at them with her vehicle, driving over the curb and in-between the two homes where the men were working, striking the victim.
An anonymous witness to the incident told WDIV that Hart was not satisfied with only hitting the employee, but she then allegedly exited the vehicle and began physically assaulting him and grabbing his hair before police pulled her off him.
Hart was overheard by the witness cursing at officers as she was placed under arrest.
"It’s definitely deliberate and intentional," Southfield Deputy Chief Aaron Huguley said of the incident to WDIV. "The victim has been taken to the local hospital. He’s listed in stable condition.”
The landscaper was reported to have a fractured pelvis and other injuries to his legs.
Authorities said they didn't understand why Hart, who is from Dearborn, was in the Southfield neighborhood to begin with.
Hart is next scheduled to appear in court on July 20.
