DETROIT (WWJ) – A grieving Detroit family is in search of answers as it’s been months since they last saw a loved one.
Carmelita Williams has been officially missing since Dec. 9, according to police, but family members say it’s been far longer, possibly as far back as April 2022.
Williams’ last known address was in the 7400 block of Lamphere, near Warren and Outer Drive on the city’s far west side. Circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unclear, but family members say she has been without her medication and they are worried about her.
Family members said it’s “not like her” to just go missing, noting she was never the same after her son Omarion’s father was murdered in 2005.
“Honestly, for the most part, she was to herself,” her brother Reginald Williams said at a Crime Stoppers press conference Wednesday. “As my mom stated, after her baby’s father got murdered, she kind of went off into a deep depression. She didn’t really have a lot of friends. All she had was us.”
Williams was described as “loving and kind” and her family says she loved her son “immensely.”

Her mother, Brenda Williams said at the press conference "I know she's out there."
“I miss you so much, daughter. I love you and I want you to know we’re praying,” she said. “I just want to know, where are you?”
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for anyone who can provide tips that lead to Williams’ location. Anyone who knows where she is or knows something about her disappearance is urged to call 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
As always, all Crime Stoppers tipsters will remain anonymous.
