DETROIT (WWJ) – A convicted felon is back behind bars after Michigan State Police caught him going 85 mph on the Lodge Freeway early Tuesday morning and then found a stolen gun and drugs in his car.
Troopers were on patrol overnight when they spotted a southbound car going 85 mph in a 55 mph zone around 1:30 a.m. on the Lodge near Chicago Boulevard in Detroit.
When troopers made contact with the 30-year-old driver from Detroit, they saw a handgun in plain view next to him.
The man was taken into custody and a check revealed he was a convicted felon and didn’t have a CPL for the gun.
Further investigation revealed the gun was stolen, according to MSP.
Troopers conducted an additional search of the suspect and found a large bag of pills hidden in his groin area. Authorities did not specify what type of pills he had.
