(WWJ) A 27-year-old man has been charged with premediated murder for shooting and killing another man after an argument at a Detroit casino.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Wednesday announced the case against Nicholas White of Detroit, accused in the death of 25-year-old Kermit McCants of Clinton Township over the weekend.
Detroit Police responded to shots fired on the second level of the Motor City Casino parking structure, shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Upon arrival, the officers found McCants suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
It is alleged, according to prosecutors, that that a verbal argument between the two men escalated, and that White pulled a gun and shot McCants.
White then fled from the scene in his car, but was arrested on Monday following an investigation by Detroit Police.
White was charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.
Bond was denied at an arraignment in 36th District Court on Wednesday, and White's next court appearance, a probable cause conference, was set for April 6.
Authorities have not yet said whether the defendant and the victim knew each other prior to Sunday's incident, or what they were arguing about.
