Detroit police searching for people of interest in fatal gas station shooting

DETROIT (WWJ) -- The search is on for a pair of men Detroit police are calling “people of interest” in a fatal shooting at a gas station on the city’s east side early Sunday morning.

Many details surrounding the shooting remain unclear, but Detroit police say it happened around 5:15 a.m. at the Citgo gas station in the 6500 block of Gratiot Avenue, just south of Forest Avenue.

Police did not immediately release any details about the victim or what led up to the shooting.

Authorities say they’re searching for two people believed to be between 18-22 years old. They left the scene in a black Jeep Cherokee.

One of them was wearing a red Nike sweatshirt and black pants, while the other was wearing an orange sweatshirt, black pants and green shoes.

Detroit police tweeted several photos of the men and their vehicle.

Anyone who recognizes the men or has any information about the shooting is asked to call 313-596-2260 or 313-806-3395.
