
DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with armed robberies at two dollar stores on the same day.
The 36-year-old suspect was taken into custody Thursday at approximately 7:20 p.m. in the 18000 block of St. Mary’s.

“Thank you to the hard and diligent work of our officers at the 3rd Precinct, 7th Precinct, 10th Precinct, as well as our federal partners," said Chief James E. White. "We will relentlessly pursue criminals that terrorize our community.”
No further information on the suspect or his status is unavailable at this time.
Police were alerted on Wednesday at approximately 12:25 p.m. that a man had walked into the Dollar General on the 1500 block of E. Jefferson, and demanded the cashier open the register. The suspect acted as though he had a weapon.
The man took an undisclosed amount of money and fled from the store in a black Jeep with an Arkansas license plate.
About 40 minutes later, police were made aware of another armed robbery that took place at the Family Dollar in the 2200 black of W. Davison.
The man walked into the store and demanded money from the cash register. The man acted as if he had a weapon again and was able to leave with a sum of money.
No one was hurt during either of these robberies.
The suspect has been on the run since Wednesday.
