Detroit police asking for help finding missing 80-year-old man

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police in Detroit are asking for the public’s help in reuniting a missing elderly man with his family.

Detroit police say 80-year-old Lonnie Jones left his home in the 400 block of Newport -- in the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood near the Detroit Riverfront -- around 2 p.m. Saturday and never came back.

Authorities say Jones suffers from Dementia and his family is worried for his safety.

Jones was last seen wearing dark glasses, a hat, gray and blue shirt, blue jeans and has a burgundy walker.

Jones is approximately 5-foot-5, 160 lbs., with gray hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who has seen Lonnie Jones or knows of his whereabouts is urged to contact the Detroit Police Department.
