Detroit Police looking for man with mental illness missing since last Friday

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Have you seen Geoffrey Purcell?

Detroit Police are asking for help to find a missing 55-year-old man who hasn't been seen since late last week.

Police said Purcell left his home in 8800 block of Sorrento, east of Schaefer Hwy. near Joy Rd., at around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, March 11, and has not returned.

Purcell is described as a Black male, 5'6'' tall and weighing around 200 lbs., with brown hair. He has Black hair, is partially bald and has a full beard.

Police said it's not unknown what he was wearing when he left.

According to his caretaker, Purcell suffers from mental illness.
