DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are still searching for a man in Detroit who asked two people to shovel his snow before giving them cocaine, taking them into his basement and killing one.

Detroit police said Antoine Jamal Powers-McClain is still at-large seven weeks since the incident, which happened around 6 p.m. Feb. 13 in the 9100 block of Stout Street on the city's west side.

According to DPD, a woman said that Powers-McClain asked her and another man to shovel his snow. Upon completion, authorities said the suspect gave them crack cocaine and asked them to go into his basement.

The woman told police that Powers-McClain then threatened them with a rifle, striking the 50-year-old man in the head and killing him, said officials.

The suspect then put a chain around the man's neck and chained him to a dog cage, according to police.

The woman said Powers-McClain also assaulted her with the rifle, and threatened to kill her if she told anyone what happened.

Authorities said that the suspect drove the woman to an apartment building in the area of 9600 Greenfield Road -- but when the car stopped, the woman escaped and found help.

Police said the woman had “severe injuries.”

The rifle was also recovered by authorities.

Police describe Powers-McClain as 5"9' tall and weighing 170 lbs. He has an average build and shoulder-length black hair, they said.

Detroit police said Powers-McClain might try to change his appearance.

He should be considered armed and dangerous, said officials.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan announced Tuesday that a cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to Powers-McClain’s arrest.

Anyone who knows where Powers-McClain is or has information about the alleged murder and assault is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide section at 313-596-2250 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up. All Crime Stoppers tipsters will remain 100% anonymous.
