21-year-old Marcus Montgomery has turned himself in to Detroit police

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit man suspected of abducting one woman and shooting another on Detroit’s west side has been arrested.

Marcus Montgomery, 21, turned himself in to police on Wednesday night following a 24-hour manhunt.

Just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday near East Warren Avenue and Penrod Street, Montgomery drove up to an SUV where 20-year-old Emoni Smith was sitting with another woman, and forced Smith to get into his car.

The other woman then attempted to follow them in her Ford Explorer, but Montgomery allegedly fired into her vehicle and shot her. She was taken to the hospital in serious condition, and is expected to recover.

After the shooting, Montgomery then fled with Smith in his vehicle, heading east on West Chicago towards Greenfield in an older model silver Ford Escape.

Later, Smith was safely recovered by police, but they were still searching for the suspect, who was considered armed and dangerous.
