DETROIT (WWJ) -- The search is on for a man who Detroit police say killed another man for his watch Monday afternoon on the city’s east side.

Detroit police say around 4:30 p.m. Monday a 32-year-old man was near a Project Green Light location in the 18000 block of Mt. Elliott Street -- between McNichols and 7 Mile Roads -- in the driver’s seat of gray 2007 Pontiac G6 when he was approached by an unknown male victim.

Authorities say the victim and suspect engaged in a brief discussion before the suspect produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s watch.

That’s when the suspect fired two shots at the victim, before fleeing the scene in a blue, older model Buick Lucerne.

Medics took the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s name has not yet been released.

Police describe the suspect as a black male with dark complexion and a heavy build. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, blue hat and black pants. He was driving what is believed to be a 2008 Buick Lucerne with license plate No. EHF3230.
