(WWJ) -- The Democratic U.S Rep. Rashida Tlaib, of Detroit, announced on Monday that she had tested positive for COVID-19.

This positive test finds itself amid the surge of reported infections of lawmakers on Capitol Hill last week.

Tlaib said in a tweet that she wasn't feeling well over the weekend and took an at-home PCR test. She added that she's now in quarantine and recovering, ending the short tweet with the announcement saying, "Please stay safe, everyone."

While awaiting her results, Tlaib stayed home from Saturday's Michigan Democratic Party convention in Detroit out of an abundance of caution, she said in a video that was played at the gathering.

Tlaib is the newest of Michigan lawmakers to test positive following infections reported by U.S. Reps. Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph and Dan Kildee, D-Flint Township, in the past few months.
