(WWJ) A Detroit woman is hospitalized in critical condition as police search for the person, or persons, who shot her while she slept inside her own home.
Police said the gunfire rang out in the 14500 block of Ardmore on the city's west side, just after 2 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 9.
In home security video released on Friday, at least two-dozen rapid-fire shots are heard before the suspect vehicle — described as a older model white Ford Taurus — peels out and speeds away from the scene.
Police said the victim, a 54-year-old woman, was sleeping in the front room of her home when shots were fired by someone in that car, critically wounding her.
No one else was injured.
The car was last seen headed north at a high rate of speed, police said.
It's not clear at this time if the woman was targeted, or what the motive might have been for the shooting.
Days later, police are still searching for suspects in this case.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect vehicle, or who has any information about this crime is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Second Precinct Investigative Unit at 313-596-5240. To remain 100% anonymous, tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (1-800-773-2587).
