
PLAINFIELD TWP. (WWJ) – A 26-year-old woman is dead after her SUV slammed into multiple trees in Northern Michigan as she tried to pass another car on Saturday in Iosco County.
A 26-year-old man and his child were also injured in the crash, which happened around noon near Plainfield Township, north of the Saginaw Bay, according to Michigan State Police.
The woman was driving a 2003 GMC Yukon when she lost control of the SUV while trying to pass another vehicle on Vaughn Road. MSP officials say the vehicle crashed into the woods, striking several trees.
The woman from Hale died of her injuries, while her passengers, the man and his kid, were taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
State police are still investigating the crash.
Troopers were assisted on scene by Iosco County EMS, Plainfield Township Fire Department, Grant Township Fire Department and US Forest Service law enforcement.
