TROY (WWJ) – A car hauler driver from California has been busted for a third drunk driving offense after showing up drunk at a dealership in Troy last week.
Troy police officers were called to Mike Savoie Chevrolet on Maple Road around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28 after employees at the dealership suspected the driver was drunk.
When officers showed up they found the truck and spoke with the driver and it was “apparent to officers that he was intoxicated,” officials said.
The driver, a 47-year-old man from California, admitted he had been drinking the night before, but denied having anything to drink that day, according to police.
But when officers asked him to perform several sobriety evaluations, he refused to participate. He blew a .217 BAC during a breathalyzer test.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up, where he submitted to a blood test.
He has been charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, third offense.
