2 East Lansing police officers on leave after shooting man in Meijer parking lot

LANSING (WWJ) -- Two East Lansing police officers are on paid administrative leave after shooting a man in a Meijer parking lot.

Investigators said the officers reported to the Meijer on Lake Lansing Road at around 7 p.m. Monday after a caller notified police about witnessing a man pull a gun from a car and head into the store.

Upon arrival, the East Lansing police officers saw a suspect matching the description -- and a foot pursuit commenced.

Officials said the chase ended in the parking lot with shots fired by an officer.

The suspect was hit by a bullet and taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. He is currently in stable condition.

No one else was hurt in this incident.

A weapon ended up being recovered at the scene.

Michigan State Police are investigating.
