MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) -- The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO) charged a 19-year-old Eastpointe man with armed robbery in connection with the theft of iPhones from a truck driver in Clinton Township.

Authorities claim that on Jan. 13, 2023, Myron Johnson approached a truck driver who was delivering a shipment of iPhones in Clinton Twp.

Johnson allegedly demanded the packages and showed the victim a handgun, at which point the driver handed over the cell phones.

At a Friday arraignment, Johnson was formally charged with armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm. If convicted of armed robbery, the defendant faces life in prison.

"The number of crimes involving guns this year is alarming," said Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido in a press release. "If you have a gun while committing a crime, you will be charged with felony firearm... in addition to armed robbery."

A judge set bond at $150,000, and a probably cause hearing is scheduled for March 7.

MCPO did not provide the details of their investigation into the theft, including how Johnson was identified as a suspect or taken into custody.
