DETROIT (WWJ) – An argument that turned violent has landed an Eastpointe man behind bars and facing allegations of murder.
Xavier White-Ratliff, 26, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of felony firearm for the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Lamar Addison of Detroit.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office says White-Ratliff and Addison, who were acquainted, got into an argument at a home in the 20250 block of Anglin Street – near 8 Mile Road and Conant on the city’s northeast side – on March 30.
At some point, that argument escalated to a physical altercation. White-Ratliff then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Addison in the right arm, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Authorities have not said what sparked the initial argument.
Officers found Addison unresponsive in the living room. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
White-Ratliff was arrested later that day.
He was arraigned over the weekend in 36th District Court and remanded to jail. He’s set for a probable cause conference on April 11.
