ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- Eight units in an Ann Arbor apartment building were destroyed by a fire Thursday evening and the cause of it is currently under investigation, but it's not considered suspicious.

The fire department arrived on scene at around 5:15 p.m. to find significant fire on the second floor that was being intensified by the wind.

Because of an adjoining building being threatened from the wind-driven fire, the incident was upgraded to a second alarm.

Extra firefighters had to be called on to the scene on Homestead Commons Drive near Eisenhower Parkway from Pittsfield Township, Saline and Northfield Township to help fight the fire.

Two of the units in the building had major fire damage, while six others had water and smoke damage.

There were no injuries.
