INKSTER, Mich. (WWJ) -- A elderly Inkster man is facing multiple charges for the non-fatal shooting of a 27-year-old that stemmed from an argument over life insurance information.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office says 76-year-old James Lauther Moore allegedly shot 27-year-old Elisha Parker of Wayne.

It all unfolded around 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday when Parker went to his house in the 1620 block of Helen Street because of a request for life insurance information.

Authorities allege Moore became verbally aggressive with Parker and there was an argument, which escalated and ultimately led to him shooting the victim in the left knee, according to prosecutors.

At that point, the victim drove away from the scene and flagged down Inkster police officers, who escorted Parker to a local hospital for treatment.

Moore has been charged with one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, one count of felonious assault and three counts of felony firearm.

Moore was expected to be arraigned Thursday in 22nd District Court.
