OXFORD (WWJ) – An elderly Oakland County man has died after being involved in a crash with a tandem gravel hauler in Oxford Township.

Michael Hogan, 82, died Wednesday night – less than two days after the crash on Lapeer Road.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says Hogan was driving a 2012 Buick LaCrosse northbound on Lapeer around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. As he was entering the intersection of Lapeer and Drahner Road, the gravel hauler driven by a 47-year-old Attica man was also entering the intersection in the other direction.

Authorities say Hogan turned left in front of the truck, causing a collision. The sheriff’s office said Tuesday that Hogan was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The gravel hauler was loaded with sand and one trailer was overturned from the crash.

Police officials said Tuesday it was not clear which driver had the right of way.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Neither alcohol nor drug use appear to be factors in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators from the Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit are handling the case.
