ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) -- A Michigan State Police trooper was injured in St. Clair Shores after a driver lost control and crashed into the back of a patrol car, causing a multi-car crash.

On Wednesday at 8 p.m., MSP said an officer was sitting on the right shoulder of westbound I-94, near Ten Mile, with his emergency lights flashing while he was investigating a single-car crash.

That's when another car traveling in the left lane lost control, crossed all lanes of traffic and crashed into the back of the patrol car.

Authorities said that the force of the crash pushed the patrol car into the first vehicle.
