
LITCHFIELD TWP. (WWJ) – An elderly man from Hillsdale County is facing charges for allegedly shooting his neighbor early Wednesday morning.
Michigan State Police received a call around 12:45 a.m. about an ongoing neighbor dispute on Hadley Road in Litchfield Township.
While troopers were on their way, they called the 70-year-old man who made the initial call and he told authorities he thought he shot his neighbor and needed an ambulance.
When troopers arrived, they found the 46-year-old neighbor with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.
Troopers provided medical aid to the victim, who was then taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
The victim was listed in stable condition on Wednesday afternoon.
MSP officials said the incident stemmed from an ongoing neighbor dispute, but did not disclose the nature of the dispute.
The 70-year-old man was arrested for assault with intent to murder and held at the Hillsdale County Jail. Authorities are still investigating.
