DETROIT (WWJ) – An investigation is underway after an employee at an upscale downtown Detroit restaurant was stabbed and then shot his attacker early Sunday morning.
Detroit police say the scene unfolded shortly after midnight at Prime + Proper, a popular steakhouse on Griswold Street, near State Street.
A preliminary investigation showed there was an altercation between the employee -- reportedly a security guard working at the club beneath the restaurant -- and the 52-year-old attacker. Eventually the suspect stabbed the victim, who in turn fatally shot the attacker.
Police have not said what prompted the altercation and have not released any details about the suspect, other than his age.
The worker was said to be in stable condition Sunday morning. No other injuries had been reported.

No arrests were announced, as of Sunday morning.
Detroit police are expected to release more details on the incident.
