DETROIT (WWJ) -- A man police are calling a "person of interest" in the slaying of a mother of two in Detroit has been located and taken into custody.
Detroit Police say 45-year-old David Ariel Hammond will be questioned about Wednesday morning's deadly shooting on Carlisle St., near 8 Mile and Kelly roads, on the city's east side.
According to Detroit Police Commander Michael McGinnis, 40-year-old Andrea Tucker had just returned home after dropping her 11 and 15-year-old children off at school.
Back at the house, at around 9 a.m., the killer was waiting.
"She pulled in her driveway and exited her vehicle and was about to enter her home when the assailant came from, basically lying in wait... and armed with a semiautomatic fired multiple shots, killing our victim," McGinnis said.
At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, police asked for tips to find Hammond... warning the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

While police have not publicly discussed a possible motive for this murder, investigators disclosed that Hammond had been dating the victim for several months.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, Hammond was out on bond in a case involving Tucker, identified as Hammond's ex-girlfriend. He appeared in court earlier this month on charges of arson, home invasion, aggravated domestic violence and felonious assault, and was under order to have no contact with Tucker as a condition of his release.
While prosecutors have not commented on Tucker's slaying, they also noted that Tucker had several Ring videos of a man in her yard.
Officers said the man could not be identified because his face was hidden by a hood, but prosecutors said Tucker believed it was Hammond.
Thursday afternoon it remained unclear how and where investigators found Hammond.
No further details were released, although police did add, in a statement: "The Detroit Police Department thanks the community for sending in tips regarding this case."
