BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) – A cow is back home after hopping a fence and taking a Sunday evening stroll through a Bloomfield Township neighborhood.

The Bloomfield Township Fire Department was called out to wrangle a young heifer named Nelly that had escaped from Bowers School.

The farm’s Facebook page says she was spooked after seeing sheep for the first time and got away from one of the farmers.

She then ran towards the entrance gate, jumped right over the cattle guard, and made a 20 minute jaunt through the Kentmoor subdivision.

The fire department eventually was able to help the farmer wrangle the cow and bring her back home.

The department was *milking* the incident for all it was worth, posting to Facebook that Nelly was “lured in the with promise of fresh feed by the crews” and the hashtag #WhoKnewCowsCouldJumpThatHigh.

Bowers School Farm apologized to anyone “who may have had an unusual Sunday dinner guest in their backyard.”
