WAYNE COUNTY (WWJ) - One woman is severely injured after she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a tree off of I-94 in Wayne County Saturday morning.
Michigan State Police announced on Twitter around 3:45 a.m. Saturday that troopers were on the scene of a reported car crash on westbound I-94 near Ecorse Road.
The driver — a 24-year old woman from Van Buren Township— had been speeding, said authorities. The vehicle swerved out of her control and went off the freeway, colliding with a tree.
The woman was pinned inside her wrecked vehicle and firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to pry the car open and rescue the woman.
MSP said the woman was taken to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.
