(WWJ) A former federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent will spend years behind bars after he was convicted of sexually assaulting two young family members over a number of years.
The Michigan Attorney General's Office announce Thursday that Kevin Taylor, 49, of St. Clair County's Riley, was sentenced Wednesday to 5 to 15 years imprisonment and sex offender registration.
Taylor back in March pleaded no contest to two counts of third degree Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC), 30 years after committing these crimes, the AG said.
The case against Taylor, who worked for ICE out of out of Wayne County, arose from an investigation by the ICE Office of Professional Responsibility after reports surfaced of the sexual assaults.
Taylor pled to assaults on two minor relatives between 1989 and 1994, when he was 16 to 21 years old.
His victims spanned were between four and nine years old during those years, officials said.
“My office will continue to pursue justice for survivors even when decades have passed,” said Attorney General Dana Nessel, in a statement. “This result would not have been possible without the collaborative work of the Criminal Trials and Appeals Division of my office, the ICE Office of Professional Responsibility, and the courage of Taylor’s victims to come forward after all these years against a predator in a position of power.”
At the time the charges were announced, ICE’s Jennifer Huerta said: “These survivors should be commended for their strength and determination, without which, Taylor may not have been stopped from victimizing others.”
