
GROSSE POINTE WOODS (WWJ) - A 20-year-old out for an evening stroll with his dog was in Grosse Pointe Woods was attacked and dragged to a van during an attempted abduction, police warned residents on Monday.
In a statement released to the public, the man told Grosse Pointe Woods police that he was out walking his dog around 11:30 p.m. on the 2100 block of Lennon Street when he was suddenly attacked.
The suspect physically assaulted the victim and dragged him to a white work van, the report stated.
"During the altercation, the victim was able to strike the suspect and break free," police wrote. "The suspect subsequently left the area."
According to officials, the victim described as a white male, apporximently 40-45 years old, standing around 6 feet tall with a medium build. At the time of the attack, the suspect was said to be clean shaven and was wearing a black jacket, black pants and a black winter hat.
The suspect's vehicle is described as possibly a Ford Econoline van with “whited out” windows, officials said in the release.
