DETROIT (WWJ) -- The grandmother who was raped and beaten outside a vacant church in Detroit last month has passed away.
Shirley Bryant, 63, had been in critical condition since the incident took place on Nov. 14. She died on Dec. 6, according to her family.

Authorities say that Shirley Bryant was found partially naked and unconscious around 10 a.m. outside of a vacant church by a passerby who heard her calling for help.
Bryant had reportedly been visiting her son on her birthday when she was attacked and raped. She sustained massive head trauma and hypothermia.
Investigators believe that the attack on Bryant was targeted.
Detroit police currently have two suspects in custody, one of which -- 44-year-old Elvin Shepard -- has been charged with assault with intent to murder.

Shepard was arraigned in late November and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
Shirley Bryant's family has organized a GoFundMe to help pay for medical expenses and other costs.
