DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Hamtramck man has been arraigned on premeditated murder and other charges in the shooting of a young adult and a teenager in Detroit.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said 23-year-old Lamarr Miller, of Detroit, was killed and a 17-year-old Westland girl was wounded in the incident last week at a home on Dickerson Street.
At around 9:40 p.m. on Friday, April, 15, it's alleged that 25-year-old Jerry Mitchell Hughes entered the house, pulled out a gun and shot the two victims.
Police arrived at the home to find Miller with multiple gunshot wounds, lying on top of the teenager, who'd been shot in the leg.
Miller was pronounced dead at the scene, and the wounded teen was taken by EMS to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities said Hughes fled the scene after the shooting but was was arrested three days later following a Detroit Police investigation.
While officials have not discussed a potential motive for the shooting, prosecutors said Hughes and Miller knew each other. Authorities have not disclosed the relationship, if any, between the Miller and the teen.
Hughes is charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, one count of Assault with Intent to Murder, one count of Felon in Possession, and three counts of Felony Firearm.
He was remanded to jail without bond following his arraignment Thursday afternoon in 36th District Court.
Hughes' next court appearance, a Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 3.
