Heroin, more meth found when police arrest pair on meth possession warrants in Northern Michigan: MSP

CADILLAC (WWJ) -- A man and woman are facing charges after police found methamphetamine in their possession in Northern Michigan, according to Michigan State Police.

During the afternoon on Sunday, June 19, troopers from the MSP Cadillac Post stopped a car on Lake Street near Cass in Cadillac.

The driver, 40-year-old John Evart Adair from Detroit, and his passenger, 30-year-old Rebecca Lea-Ann Hill from Santa Cruz, California, were both found to be in possession of methamphetamine during the traffic stop, police said.

The meth was submitted to the MSP Crime Lab for analysis, a report forwarded to the Wexford County Prosecutor’s Office, and an arrest warrant for Adair and Hill was issued in July.

When the pair was arrested at a home in Manton, north of Cadillac, on Sunday, MSP said Adair was found to be in possession of more meth, along with some heroin.

Adair and Hill were lodged in the Wexford County Jail, and additional charges were sought for Adair.

Adair was arraigned in the 84th District Court on the original warrant charges of one count Possession of Methamphetamine Second or Subsequent Offense, and Habitual Offender - Fourth Offense. Bond was set at $25,000 cash/surety.

Adair was also arraigned on additional charges of Possession Methamphetamine Second or Subsequent Offense, one count Possession Narcotics less than 25 grams, and Habitual Offender - Fourth Offense. Bond was set at $75,000 cash surety for the added charges.

Hill was arraigned in the 84th District Court on the original warrant charges of one count Possession of Methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $25,000 cash/surety.

In Michigan, the penalty for possession of meth is up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000, depending on the amount of meth involved.
