DETROIT (WWJ) -- A winter storm that moved into Metro Detroit Thursday evening brought a coating of snow, some slippery roads, but not quite the accumulation that forecasters predicted.

According to a preliminary storm report by the National Weather Service, updated snowfall totals ranged from 1 to close to 4 inches in the Southeast Michigan area.

The most snow is on the ground in Ortonville, in Northern Oakland County and in Port Austin in the Thumb region, which both got 4 inches.

Around 3 inches of accumulation was reported in Lapeer and Howell, and just under 3 inches in Brighton and Flint.

Goodrich in Genesee County, trained spotters recorded just over 2 inches of accumulation, while other parts of Genesee County got 2.5 inches.

Other parts of Oakland County, including Farmington and Beverly Hills, got just an inch to an inch and-a-half.

The Grosse Pointes also got about an inch.

In Roseville and Romulus, 1.4 inches of snow was recorded, while Ann Arbor got just over 1 inch.

AccuWeather forecasters had called for 3 to 6 inches with this storm system.

While there wasn't a whole lot of snow, Michigan State Police said they were responding to plenty of one-vehicle spinout crashes. As always, police remind drivers to slow their speeds and increase distance between their car and others when it's snowing.

WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore said there will be some leftover flurries on Friday, as steadier snow showers taper off early in the day. It'll stay cold, with the high on Friday only getting up to around 29 degrees.

There could be some more flurries or a snow shower Friday night.

High temps Saturday and Sunday will reach around 25 degrees, with lows in the teens, and a chance for a little bit more snow on Sunday, DeVore said.

This snow total for this winter in Detroit is now around 29 inches.
