AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) --All-American football star Jayru Campbell has been hit with a long list of charges after he was arrested late Sunday night for live streaming part of a concerning encounter with police at a psychiatric and substance abuse facility in Auburn Hills.
Court records say Campbell has been charged with three counts of felonious assault along with three misdemeanor charges of child abuse, disorderly conduct, and trespassing.
Not much is currently known about the circumstances that lead to police attempting to negotiate with Cambell in what is thought to be the lobby of Havenwyck Hospital -- located on University Drive, just west of Opdyke in Auburn Hills.
Most of what is known comes from Facebook Live video stream that Campbell began at around 9:30 p.m.
In the video, he is holding a little girl who he says is his daughter. He mainly talks to his followers via the livestream, but occasionally speaks to someone off-camera.
Most of Campbell's remarks appear to be about being at Havenwyck, concern over losing custody of his daughter and general comments about distrusting the system. Campbell is mostly calm but also bursts out in anger at the police, who are off-screen.
An officer is heard saying that they just don't want the baby or anyone else to get hurt.
At the 2:20 mark in the livestream, viewers see that Cambell is holding a pair of scissors in his free hand. He is still holding the little girl in his other arm.
The child is not upset and appears to be fine throughout the incident.
"I love mine," Campbell yells to police at the 3:39 mark, then turns back to the camera. "I wish my dad held me like this. I wish my grandparents held me like this," he tells his viewers.
A couple minutes later, at the 4:20 mark, Campbell reverses the phone camera and four cops can be seen some distance away in the facility lobby. One holds a shotgun. Another holds a shield.
Campbell then backs away from the officers and sits on the ground. He raises the scissors around the 4:50 mark, saying "I'm stabbing anything that comes to this bitch, Bro, trust me."
The final minutes of the livestream are spent in the same fashion, with police continuing to approach and Campbell alternating between addressing the viewers and arguing with law enforcement.
Concerned comments poured in from Facebook throughout the livestream.
It is not currently known how the situation was resolved, but there have been no reports that anyone was injured.
Campbell was eventually arrested, and information from the Oakland County Sheriff's Department shows he was booked into Oakland County Jail at approximately 11:30 p.m.
According to CBS News, Campbell previously served a 60-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated assault following a 2014 incident where he body slammed a security guard at Cass Tech High School.
Campbell is due back in court on Wednesday.
