CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) – A 15-year-old student at Chippewa Valley High School in Clinton Township is facing charges for bringing a gun to school.

Police in Clinton Township were called to the high school on Friday, as the students were placed under lockdown.

Authorities recovered the weapon and when the lockdown was lifted, students were sent home early for the rest of the day.

The student, whose name has not been released, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, receiving and concealing a stolen firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds.

Lt. Joseph Fix told WWJ on Friday it was not clear why the student brought the gun to class.

No students or staff were harmed in the incident, Fix said.

The student remains in custody at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center.
