(WWJ) – Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel says he stands with Ukraine as Russian troops continue to attack the country.
With a large population of Ukrainian-Americans in Macomb County, and the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Warren, Hackel posted a video to the county’s website on Wednesday to share his thoughts on the war.
He shared his experience of traveling to Ukraine in 2002 for a program called Project Harmony as the country came out from under Soviet rule.
Hackel joined WWJ’s Erin Vee live Monday night to talk more about his trip and the current situation in Ukraine.
“We do support Ukraine and we’re going to continue to unite with Ukraine,” Hackel said.
