Officers tried to pull the driver over, but he sped away, crashing into an undercover police car before hitting the victim's car at Cass Avenue and S. Rose Street.

The victim, a 58-year old woman from Harrison Township, was rushed to McLaren Macomb Hospital where she died of her injuries, officials said.

The suspect, identified as a 41-year-old man, ran away from the scene. He was arrested a short time later without incident and taken to jail, according to the sheriff's office.

No names have been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
