MISSAUKEE COUNTY (WWJ) – A Madison Heights man has been charged with sexually assaulting two young children in Northern Michigan.
Timothy Edwards, 31, was arraigned in Missaukee County Friday on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under the age of 13 and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under the age of 13.
Last September the Michigan State Police Houghton Lake Post received a referral from Children’s Protective Services of an alleged sexual assault of two children that occurred between 2010 and 2015.
The children recently realized what happened to them was wrong and reported the incidents to a parent, according to MSP. Officials did not elaborate on the nature of the alleged assault.
Authorities did not disclose the ages of the victims at the time of the alleged assaults, or where exactly they happened, only that they were in Missaukee County.
The victims are now living downstate and were interviewed at the Oakland County Care House, according to MSP officials. The MSP Metro North Post assisted with the investigation.
An arrest warrant was issued for Edwards on March 29 and he was arrested and held in the Oakland County Jail. He was taken to the Missaukee County Jail on April 6.
He was arraigned Friday and given a $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 20.
