Man arrested for murdering neighbors in southwest Michigan says they were too loud

GALESBURG (WWJ) -- A man accused of killing his two neighbors in southwestern Michigan told police that he shot them because they were too loud.

WWJ’s Beth Fisher reports that William Wolfe told police he shot Virgil Walker and his wife Kailey last week in Galesburg, east of Kalamazoo, because they were making too much noise and he couldn’t sleep.

According to court documents, Wolfe says he knocked on their apartment door and then shot them without any warning.

He also told police that he said goodbye to his cat, fled the scene and then called 911 to report the situation.

According to officials, Wolfe’s mental health may have played a role in the incident. The suspect is currently in custody.
