DETROIT (WWJ) – A man is in custody after Detroit police busted him speeding on residential streets and found drugs and an illegal gun inside his car.

Officials with the Detroit Police Department’s 12th Precinct say officers spotted the suspect speeding in the area of Dexter and Joy on Tuesday on the city's northwest side. Authorities didn’t say how fast he was going.

When the man stopped at a Project Green Light location, officers followed him inside.

During the investigation, officers found cocaine, a gun and the man’s 2-year-old daughter inside his car.

The suspect didn’t have a concealed pistol license, according to police, and he was arrested.

The toddler was not hurt and was picked up by a family member, officials said.

Police released an image of the man being escorted out of the Project Green Light location in handcuffs, but did not identify the store.

Authorities have not released the man’s name and have not said what charges he will be facing.
