ST. CLAIR COUNTY (WWJ) -- The man accused of attacking a pair of teenagers with a machete and damaging their car over the weekend is now facing charges.

Snow, 24, who is unhoused and diagnosed with Schizophrenia, was arraigned this week on assault and property damage charges.

He is currently being held on a $25,000 bond for each of the two unrelated assault cases.

According to the Macomb Daily, he's expected to see St. Clair County mental experts before his next court date.

The incident in question happened during the early morning hours of Friday, April 15, in the parking lot of St. Hubert's church on Prentiss Street in Harrison Township.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the church that morning on the report of a “suspicious white male with a bladed weapon.” Authorities say Snow was speaking in “a gibberish manner” to the occupants of the vehicle, both 18 years old, as he took the blade to the car and then chased them out of the parking lot on foot.

Neither teen was injured in the incident, authorities said

However, there was no sign of Snow when deputies arrived at the church parking lot.

Later, Macomb Daily reports that police received a call from someone who indicated they saw a man who matched Snow's description attempting to break into a vehicle. When officers arrived and saw Snow, he ended up fleeing on foot.

Snow then jumped into Swan Creek and police lost sight of him.

The following day, a witness notified police after they saw Snow on Dyke Road near St. Johns Marsh at about 4 p.m.

Several agencies, including the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton Township Police Department and Michigan State Police, arrived on the scene to assist.

Clinton Township PD also brought in a K-9 team and multiple drones -- but because the dogs were unable to get through the marsh and mud, the search was called off, reported the Macomb Daily.

Another search was initiated as Snow swam across a canal.

Clay Township officers were able to make an arrest when he entered someone's backyard near the canal, police said.

After being checked out medically, Snow was turned over to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office.

Snow had a valid arrest warrant for dangerous weapons from a similar incident at a church in Clinton Township, back in June 2021.

Snow is said to have a history of threatening churchgoers with a machete and is said to have fantasies of torturing women to death. He also has a history of escaping police transportation to psychiatric hospitals.
