CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A suspect is in police custody after shooting a 31-year-old man to death in Chesterfield Township.
The situation happened around 11:00 p.m. Saturday night on Meldrum Street near Jefferson Avenue.
The suspect -- a 28-year-old man from Harrison Township -- called 911 and told police that he had just shot someone.
When they arrived at the scene, authorities attempted to save the victim's life, but he was later pronounced dead from his gunshot wounds.
Investigators believe the suspect went to the victim’s home, where they got into an argument that escalated to gunfire.
The suspect is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail in Mount Clemens.
