TROY (WWJ) -- A 30-year-old West Bloomfield man was arrested at Troy restaurant last week after police say he he payed for a pricy takeout order with someone else's credit card.
At around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, Troy Police got a call from Morton’s Steakhouse, on W. Big Beaver Rd., about an alleged credit card fraud in progress.
Responding officers spoke with a restaurant employee who said they got a call from a woman who said there was a fraudulent charge on her credit card at the steakhouse for a carryout meal that was recently placed.
The woman she did not place the $142 order, nor did she authorize anyone else to use her credit card to order the food.
While police were at the restaurant investigating the incident, they learned that the person who'd come to pick up the order was sitting at the bar, waiting for the food to be ready.
Officers approached the man and took him into custody.
He was taken to the Troy Police look-up and charged with Stealing/Retaining a Financial Transaction Device without Consent.
It's unclear how the man got the woman's credit card information. Officers spoke with the victim who confirmed she did not know the suspect, and she had no idea how he was able to access her card number.
The man's name was not released.
