PONTIAC, Mich. (WWJ) -- The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in tracking down the man they say is responsible for a shooting on Halloween night that left one man dead and another injured.

Troy Dwayne Santos of Pontiac is accused of fatally shooting Frederick Lamar Betty, 39, of Pontiac, and wounding another man outside of a store on Oct. 31.

Santos is looking at multiple felony charges, including first-degree murder and assault with intent to murder, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says. He is also charged with two counts of using a gun during the commission of a felony.

It all unfolded shortly after 7 p.m. outside Lyons Food Market at 640 Auburn Avenue, police said. When sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, they found Betty lying on the pavement in the front of the store with a gunshot wound to his back.

Another man, a 48-year-old Pontiac resident whose name has not been released, was shot in the foot and found inside the store.

Police say both men were shot as they were walking out of the store.

Deputies took Betty to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead several hours later, while the other victim was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Surveillance video shows Santos hopping in the front passenger seat of a white Chevrolet Equinox and fleeing the scene.

Police have not identified the driver of the vehicle, but are asking for tips in tracking them down.

Santos has several prior convictions and arrest warrants, according to police. He was previously convicted of unlawfully driving away an automobile and domestic violence. He also has two warrants from the Friend of the Court for unpaid child support.

Authorities say Santos is considered to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone who has information on Santos’s whereabouts or information about the driver of the Chevy is asked to come forward.

Calls can be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

If convicted of the first-degree murder charge, Santos would be looking at life in prison without parole.
