(WWJ) The Detroit Police Department is searching for a man accused of driving recklessly, killing three people in a hit-and-run on New Year's Eve.

The tragic crash happened at around 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, in the area of Michigan Ave. and 16th St. on the city's west side.

Police said two victims, both in their 60s, were traveling westbound on Michigan in a Mercury Sable. When they tried to turn left onto 16th, they were struck by a Cadillac CT6 travelling at a high rate of speed.

The Cadillac, police determined, was driven by 37-year-old Victor Ross, who had an 87-year-old passenger on board.

Unfortunately, both victims in the other car and the elderly man in Ross' vehicle were killed.

Police said Ross fled the scene on foot after the crash, and remains at large.

There is now an active warrant for his arrest on three counts of second degree murder, three counts of reckless driving causing death, three counts of operating license suspended revoked or denied causing death, three counts of failure to stop at the scene of accident when at fault resulting in death, and habitual offender - third offense.

As the search for Ross continues, police are asking the public for tips.

Ross (pictured above) is described as 5’9” tall and around 170 lbs., with a light complexion, black hair and green eyes.

Anyone who has seen this suspect or know of his whereabouts is asked to call the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide unit at 313-596-2260 or Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up (1-800-773-2587). As always, all those who call Crime Stoppers will remain 100% anonymous and will not be required to speak to police.
