WESTLAND (WWJ) -- A young man who allegedly opened fire on police officers from the second floor of a Westland church is facing a long list of felony charges.

Stefaun Lefebvre, 22, was arraigned 18th District Court on Thursday on 27 counts in connection with a chase, shooting and standoff last Friday.

Police said it started on Detroit's west side, when Lefebvre tried to rob a gas station. He was chased by Detroit Police to Dearborn, and then to Westland where he got out of his car and fled on foot.

Lefebvre ran into the nearby Palmer Road Baptist Church, went up to the second floor and began shooting at police officers through several window, MSP said.

Shots fired by the gunman struck the passenger door of a Westland police unit and the windshield of a Wayne County Sheriff's Office vehicle, but no officers were injured.

Additional officers and troopers who converged on the scene were also fired upon, police said. A barricaded gunman situation was declared, and one Detroit Police officer eventually returned fire.

Lefebvre was wounded, but MSP said it's not certain whether he was hit by a bullet or rather by glass and debris from the round.

The gunman then surrendered and was was treated at a local hospital before being lodged at the Wayne County Jail.

MSP said Lefebvre is charged with the following:

• 9 counts of Assault with Intent to Murder
• 2 counts of Fleeing to Elude
• 1 count of CCW
• 1 count of Attempting to Kill Police Dog
• 14 counts of Felony Firearm

Bond was set at $750,000 cash with the conditions that Lefebvre wear a GPS tether and remain under house arrest if he is released.

Further court proceedings in this case are pending.
