(WWJ) The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-car crash that killed two people over the weekend.
It happened early Saturday morning in Pontiac, along Cesar Chavez Avenue near West Boulevard.
Investigators said a 28-year-old Lapeer man was driving a 2010 Chrysler 300 eastbound when his vehicle left the roadway and crashed into an embankment. After going airborne, the car hit a viaduct, which is a type of railroad bridge.
The driver and his passenger, a 25-year-old Pontiac woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said both were wearing their seatbelts.
The investigation is ongoing, but OCOS said that speed and alcohol and/or drug use may have played a role in the crash.
No names have been released.
