NEW BALTIMORE (WWJ) -- A potentially armed suspect is on the run after robbing a bank in New Baltimore, Michigan, Tuesday afternoon.

Officials described the alleged thief as a man between 18 and 20 years old, wearing a Jiffy Lube uniform. Investigators are also looking for a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, brown or bronze color, with a Michigan license plate 6NQN75 as a "vehicle of interest" in the case.

According to police in the Macomb County community, the robbery took place around 2:45 p.m. on January 17, at the Huntington Bank on Washington St. in downtown New Baltimore.

Although no one saw a weapon, bank workers say the suspect alluded to having a gun and is considered to still be armed and dangerous.

At this time, it is unclear exactly what else happened inside of the bank or if the man got away with anything.

What is known is that he exited the bank and walked away.

Some time later, Macomb County Sheriff's deputies responded to a crash at 21 Mile and Card Rd in Anchor Bay.

Suspecting that the collision may have been connected to the robber's escape, law enforcement began searching the area, asking residents to stay indoors and locking down nearby schools as a precaution.

On Wednesday morning, police said in an update that they want to speak to 18-year-old Jacob Edwards of Macomb Township, who is a person of interest in connection with the crime.

Authorities have also obtained Ring doorbell footage that appears to show the suspect wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. It's believed he changed his clothing from the Jiffy Lube uniform he wore at the scene, police said.

As the search continues, police want to remind area residents that the robber is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone who sees the suspect or who has information or the whereabouts of this vehicle, do not approach and call the New Baltimore Police Department at 586-725-2181.
