(WWJ) – Two Michigan men are behind bars after what they thought was a meet-up with an underage girl turned out to be an undercover police sting.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Jeremy Coder of Shelby Township and 59-year-old Kevin Deilser of Clio were arrested at a Rochester Hills motel on Wednesday. Authorities did not disclose the name of the motel.

Their arrests were the result of an undercover sting operation run by the sheriffs’ offices of Oakland and Genesee Counties.

Both men are charged with multiple felonies that could land them in prison for the rest of their lives, if convicted. They are each charged with the following felonies:

• Child sexually abusive material – 20 years and/or $100,000 fine
• Using a computer to commit a crime – 20 years or life
• Using a computer to commit a crime – 4-10 years
• Accosting a child for immoral purposes –  4 years and/or $4,000 fine

Coder and Deilser were arraigned Saturday in 52-1 District Court in Novi and are each being held on $75,000 bond. Should either man post bond, his whereabouts are to be monitored by an electronic tether and they are to have no contact with children or use the internet.

Both are scheduled for a probable cause hearing on June 13 in 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills.

The OCSO, along with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team (GHOST), used investigative techniques known to catch the attention of would-be solicitors.

Almost immediately, would-be solicitors engaged with the fictitious 15-year-old, with hundreds of people from all over the country expressing interest.

Authorities say Coder and Deilser both showed up at the motel and were arrested. They both made incriminating statements after their arrests, admitting their attempts to have sex with a person they thought was a minor.

“I am proud of our team and the partnership with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office that resulted in the arrest of two individuals who were seeking to violate someone they thought was a 15-year-old child,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “We intend to conduct more of these stings in the future. The message should be clear that if you target children, we will target you.”
