
(WWJ) -- Gas prices are now over $5 dollars a gallon at some Metro Detroit gas stations.
Metro Detroit's average price is at $4.97, which is about 36 cents more than last week's average and $1.89 more than this same time last year.
And at Telegraph and 12 Mile, WWJ Newsradio 950's Mike Campbell reported that prices have risen above the average and rested at $5.19 Friday morning.
Across the state, the average price is $4.94, which is up more than 30 cents in the past three days and sets a new record high, says AAA.
The state's fuel prices are up 38 cents from a week ago, according to AAA.
This price is a whopping 77 cents more than this time last month and $1.91 more than this time last year.
AAA reports that a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline is costing motorists an average of $74, which is an increase of about $23 from when prices were their highest last November.
Some analysts say was the outcome of an OPEC meeting, in which oil-producing nations decided to boost some output, was disappointing -- and this why we're seeing these high prices.
